Looking forward ....

.... to a four-day week - it's St. Patrick's Day on Friday, so woohoo, four-day week and long weekend coming up.  So great - and then only another fortnight until Easter Holidays, hop, skip and jump to May Bank Holiday, June Bank Holiday and before we know, it, Summer Holidays!!!   Just like that!

I had a baby card to make for my friend - she was heading out to Canada to visit her daughter and meet her new baby grandson for the first time.  Here's what I made:

I've used the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday (turned on its side) and I'm also entering the following challenges: Pink Gem Challenge ("3 Bs" - baby, blue and blobs!), Daring Cardmakers ("Take the rough with the smooth"), Cas-ual Fridays ("Off the edge") and Creative Inspirations ("Use Lili of the Valley products").

I painted a rough background with two colours of housepaint and overlaid with a sentiment printed on acetate.  I used my trusty Lili of the Valley baby stamp coloured with distress inks.  Here's a side-shot of the detail:

Recipe:
Stamp: Lili of the Valley "Baby Blanket"
Paper: MME "Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks"
Font: "Peanut Butter Cookie" - dafont.com
Die: Nestabilities "Large Pinking Circles"
Other: Housepaint, acetate, grey marker

Ok, so Spring has Sprung ....

.... and spronged, and I haven't been blogging.  Again!  We've been travelling a bit over the last few months - end of April went to Italy to stay with friends.  As always, wonderful - I love Italy.  Here's a picture of me on the approach to the Umbrian hilltop town where our friends live.

Two weeks later, we went to Belgium for an International Mini Meeting - we flew into Eindhoven in the Netherlands and stayed there the first night, then on to the campsite.  Brilliant weekend, lots of fun with friendly Mini people from all over Europe and beyond.

I've made a few cards over the past few months - will post them as challenges dictate over the next few weeks or so.  The most recent was made for my husband's grandmother - 96 years old this week!  Here's what I made:

I'm entering the following challenges: CAS-ual Fridays ("Florals"), Creative Inspirations and Lemon Shortbread ("Anything Goes"), ABC Challenge ("I is for Important" - 96 is fairly important, not to mention impressive!), Shopping our Stash ("4 elements" - mine is "earth" for flowers - and maybe "fire" too, as they are sunflowers!) and CAS-ology ("CAS").

I used an old Papertrey Ink stamp set that my friend, Anne, got for me in America a few years ago, and popped the flowers up for dimension against a sponged background.  Here's a side-shot:

Recipe:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink "Simple Sunflower"
Font: "Bringshoot" - dafont.com
Stencil: Simon Says Stamp "Falling Snow"
Other: Distress Inks, bakers' twine, white e.p.

Quick and clean ....

.... and simple.  I've been making some relatively quick cards over the last week.  I've got thank yous to send to some of the kids at school that gave me presents at the end of term, those cards are in progress at the moment and will hopefully be ready tomorrow.

But this card is a sort of get well card.  I visited my friend's wife in hospital last week - she's been in for over 6 months and ended up having a heart transplant.  She finally got to go home on Friday, I popped in to visit on Thursday afternoon having thrown together a quick card - it ended up being a bit over-symbolic, I think, but she loved it.  Here's what I made:

I'm entering this into the following challenges: CAS-ology ("Glow") and CAS-ual Fridays ("Hearts in Summer Colours").
