Thanks for the ....

.... inspiration and permission to lift, Mandy.

I saw this card on Mandy's blog a few days ago. I really love her vintage style, and her card reminded me that we don't always have to use an image - the sentiment can be the centrepiece of the card instead. I had to make an anniversary card for DH's brother and his wife, and was really inspired by Mandy's card. Here's my take on it:
.

I used my favourite ever BG paper, Phresh & Phunky. I only ever got one pack, and I dip into it VERY rarely - trying to save it for ever and ever, I guess!!! The delicious font is called "Hurricane" and I got it from www.dafont.com

I've been a bit ....

.... of a naughty girl!

I've been on a stash-diet since I finished spending my Christmas money and I've just given in to a full-blown binge. :-o

Two self-indulgent orders just gone in - well, Sterling is at 94c today - so really I had to - those stamps were a bargain, and the spikey nestabilities would be impossible to do with a pair of decorative edge scissors, and the nestabilities embossing mat has been out of stock everywhere for ..... well, forEVER!!

Yup, totally justified! Sigh of relief!!!

Haven't made anything really this week, those antiobiotics were STRONG and made me very sleepy.

Made the first card when I was sick, I think it shows:

Made this one at the crop last weekend - better - I so love BG Granola (predictable, I know!!) - the colours are so me. I used a sketch from Basic Grey Challenges from a few weeks back - as usual I didn't make the card in time to enter the challenge!! I haven't used a sketch before and I liked this one a lot.

Thanks for looking!!

The drugs ....

.... DO work!!!!
Just call me Doctor Julie! (Thanks for well wishes, girls!)

Now I'm feeling better, a bit of blog housekeeping is in order. I made this card using an image I'd stamped and chalked at Jackie's Feb workshop. Made it into a thank you card for Babs, who'd sent me the patterned paper.

Next, I have a few cards I've made with my Hero Arts Japanese Dolls set, which is divine. But strangely, I had huge difficulty at first in working with them. I decided to make a card using BG Bittersweet and these stamps, ought to have been a piece of cake, I love them both. But I faffed about for ages before finally putting this one together, and I'm still a bit ho-hum about it.

I then decided on a complete change of tack, and did the next one using only Bazzill, in very vivid colours. Much happier with the results.

Final bit of housekeeping, the lovely Mandy sent me this blog award. Thanks, Mandy!

I have to admit it's taken me a while to work out how these work, but I think I've got the knack of it now. My five blogging pals I'd like to award it to are:

  1. Liz
  2. Julie Frog
  3. Linda (saw you coming in to the hall today, hun, didn't realise you weren't staying, didn't get a chance to talk.)
  4. Lynda
  5. Babs

Phew - sorry - that was a mammoth post! And it could have been longer, as I was at a crop today and made some more.

If you're still with me, thanks for looking!!! xx

You spin me ....

.... right round!

I haven't blogged in a few weeks. I had intended to, but I've had a bad bout of vertigo all week - am feeling very blaaaaaaahhhh. But, on the plus side, today I made the doc. give me antibiotics and am hoping there's a hidden infection causing the dizziness and that the drugs will cure me!!!!!

And also on the excellent news front, last week (or was it the week before!!!), the very talented Kelly Booth had a starring day on the Hero Arts Blog. She had a giveaway on her blog to celebrate, and woohoo, I won!!! She sent me these funny Hero Arts owl stamps, and also the shadow ink. Thanks Kelly, I love them!!

I am looking forward to playing with them when the room stops spinning around!!!
