It rains in ....

.... Scotland too!!

I mentioned in my last post that we went to Edinburgh recently. Part of the reason for going was to see Simple Minds in concert at Edinburgh Castle on the Saturday night.

The weather was not so good (that's an understatement!) that night. It didn't just rain - it poured, teemed, lashed, pelted - every word you can think for rain.

Here's a video of the rain before the gig started - I am the soggy black-jacketed creature that gets in the way of the camera every so often!!

Every item of clothing on me was soaked through. My knees and ankles locked up with the wet and cold. All the blood drained out of my wet fingers - brrrrrrrr. And the gig - it was OK I suppose!!!!!

Boys, boys, boys ....

.... this week's challenge on PaperPlay Challenges was set by Elisa:

"Boys, boys, boys, make something for a boy - baby, child, teen or man"

Well, this was perfect timing, DS has to go to a little pal's birthday party tomorrow, so a card was needed anyway.

And here it is:

I would have liked to put some more embellishments (buttons or brads, maybe) on it, but I have a rule not to use much of my precious stash on cards for all the parties DS goes to, when he's older and there are less parties I'll be a bit less stingy!!!! I drew and cut out the number 8 from a pizza box - so that was free - and so was the string!!!

The prize on PaperPlay this week is from The Crafty Alley - it's the Lillian Collection from Crate Paper. I love their paper - used some from the Static range for this card.

We were in Edinburgh at the weekend, hence no other crafting - must get my skates on and do more stuff!!!

Thanks for looking!

More bloomin' ....

.... chocolate. It's becoming a bit of a recurrent theme!!

The challenge this week on PaperPlay Challenges is set by Sandie and it's:

Favourite chocolate/candy. Let your favourite nibble inspire your creation.

Now, as regards picking my favourite chocolate, I didn't have much imagination, as I will always get a Mint Aero if I "have" to eat chocolate!! And this is not the first time I've made a card in homage to Mint Aero. See this post from April!!!

Anyway, here's today's offering:

The prize this week is from Cardz n Scrapz and is an American Crafts album. Hope you get a chance to play along.

Strawberries dipped in ....

.... chocolate. I'm very very partial to strawberries, can do without the chocolate!!! But the colours red and brown look soooo good together, so that's this week's challenge on SFTW.

This is the first time I've entered this challenge, and I like the way my card turned out. Decided after the last near-disaster with the sewing machine that I'd stick to hand-stitching the border, and it came out nicely, even though I finished at 1am last night!!!

Gosh, 3 cards in just over 3 days - there's nothing like summer holidays to kickstart the old mojo!!!

Thanks for looking!

Two posts in ....

.... two days - must be a record!!

The challenge on PaperPlay Challenges this week was set by Dei and it's called "Ooh la la - fashion":

This week I want you to design a project with the theme of fashion!

I had to think outside the box on this one, as I don't have any stamps with dresses or shopping or shopping bellas or anything.

So this is what I made.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you get a chance to enter the challenge!

Blue and Green ....

.... should never be seen!

That's the title of this week's Daring Cardmakers challenge. I haven't had a chance to do one of their challenges in a while and I enjoyed this one.

The leaves of the ferns have been stickled so it's a little bit glittery in real life. Oh, I'm looking at the image again and I can see the glitter - usually doesn't come up in photos.

Thanks for looking!

Paper ....

.... Roses. Does anyone remember that song, from the dim and distant 70s I think. Country and Western ain't my thing, but "Paper Roses" is the title of my challenge this week on PaperPlay Challenges:

Use a flower (or flowers) on your project, but they can't be bought flowers, you have to make them yourself!!!

My inspiration for this challenge came from a Circle Journal I did recently, as I made flowers for the cover.

I did intend to enter something else for the challenge itself. I made a sympathy card for an ex-colleague of DH. I used papers from a kit that weren't really my cup of tea, but I thought they were suitable for the occasion and that I could make something of them. Mistake. I cut flowers and chopped them and inked them and changed the colours altogether and eventually I put something OKish together. DH liked it, but I was so pained and irritated by the whole process that I will NEVER use those papers again. (Tinkering Ink Provincial Faire, in case you're wondering!!!)

So instead of going back to the drawing board, I like the CJ cover, so that is what I used for my DT entry!!!

And here's a wee close-up of the flower.

Thanks for looking, and apologies if that song ends up stuck in your head all week!!!
